Facial Implants

Facial implants are designed to enhance or augment your own facial features. Placing implants on your cheek bones or chin helps bring these areas into better balance with the rest of your face. Dr. Ford performs facial augmentation procedures using implants that enhance your face, giving you a natural, balanced look.

Incisions for these procedures are usually hidden in the mouth and heal very quickly, although the incision for a chin implant may be placed just below the chin. Facial augmentation is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty procedures to strengthen and contour your profile.

The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient at our ambulatory surgical center. The procedure usually takes about one to two hours. You will spend some time in recovery and then be discharged to home.

In the first three days you will have some bruising and swelling, but applying ice and keeping your head elevated will help decrease the swelling. Most people are back in the "public eye" in about ten to fourteen days and back to normal activities, such as exercising, etc., in four to six weeks.

All surgical procedures carry some degree of risk, which Dr. Ford will discuss with you in detail prior to your surgery.
