Restylane®

Restylane® injections have become the fastest growing skin care treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. Restylane® is made of Hyaluronic acid, which is the second largest component of the skin next to collagen. Restylane® provides more volume than collagen and does not require allergy testing.

A gel-based hyaluronic acid naturally produced by the body, Restylane®ˇ˝ provides a natural lift and enhancement to the skin. Intended for facial tissue augmentation, Restylane®ˇ˝ is recommended for the correction of wrinkles, lip enhancement, shaping of facial contours and for the correction of facial folds. It is injected into the middle part of the dermis layer of the facial skin. The degree and duration of the correction depend on the character of the defect treated, and the amount of tissue stress at the implant site.

FAQ about Restylane®

What Is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a cosmetic filling agent made of Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of the skin.

What Is Restylane® Made Of?
Restylane® is made of a clear gel called NASHAˇ˝, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. This Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its own weight in water to help restore volume to the treated area. Restylane® is compatible with human Hyaluronic acid.

How Is It Different Than Collagen?
Restylane® is made of Hyaluronic acid, which is the second largest component of the skin next to collagen. Restylane® provides more volume than collagen, and does not require allergy testing.

How Is Restylane® Different Than Botox®?
Restylane® is used to fill in lines whereas Botox® is used to relax muscles that create wrinkles. Both Restylane® and Botox are often used in conjunction with each other to perfect deeper lines.

Is It Approved By The FDA?
Restylane® has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.

Are Injections Safe?
Restylane® has been safely used throughout the world since 1996. Because the product is non-animal based, allergy testing is not required. The most commonly reported adverse events are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

Where Is It Administered?
Restylane® has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles as well as enhance the appearance and fullness of lips.

How Long Does an Injection Take?
The entire procedure typically takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.

Do Injections Hurt?
Treatments can be uncomfortable. The application of a numbing agent one hour prior to administration can help alleviate potential discomfort.

What Should I Do Before Receiving an Injection?
Before Restylane® treatments, avoid aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, high doses of vitamin E supplements, or excessive alcohol consumption. Doing so will help decrease possible bruising at the site of injection. In addition, a numbing cream may be applied one hour prior to treatment.

What Should I Do After Receiving an Injection?
Do not excessively manipulate the treated area for four to five days. Tylenol or Advil may be used as needed for any mild discomfort.

How Will I Look Post-Treatment?
Normal activity may be resumed immediately following Restylane® injections, however, there may be mild swelling and bruising at the injection site. Swelling should resolve within three to four days, and bruising may take up to one week to diminish. Concealer can help cover any temporary imperfections.

How Long Does It Last?
Studies have shown that average Restylane® treatment results last six months when appropriate amounts of Restylane® is administered.

How Often Should I Have Treatments?
Treatments typically last four to six months, so treatments are usually scheduled two to three times per year. Follow-up treatments are advised before the product has fully dissipated to help enhance a lasting effect.

Where Does It Go After It Wears Off?
Over time, molecules bind with water, resulting in the degradation of the product, which is then metabolized by the body.

How Much Does Restylane® Cost?
Restylane® treatment amounts vary depending on age, application area, and whether the patient is female or male (men tend to require more Restylane® than women). Please contact us at  Radiance for more information.
